From the Preface:

"Hundreds of years before the coming of Christ, Hosea, God's chosen prophet to Israel, said: "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children" (Hosea 4:6). How could this happen to God's people? It happened because they didn't obey Jehovah's command to study His Word (cf. Deut. 6:4-15).

Our generation is faced with the same challenge Israel faced in the days of Hosea: destruction because of a lack of knowledge. Knowledge of the Word is essential to maintaining a proper relationship with God and with one's fellow man. The church went into apostasy when the Bible was taken out of the hands of the people. The danger in our day is not one of the Bible being taken from us, but, rather, that we don't study it as we should. Ignorance brings destruction."
